- Bizarre road signs from around the world. Too many to choose as a “best” representative, but I’ll get a couple in the post side area in resized/clipped form
- I think this guy is even more anti-George Bush than I am. Regardless of your political view, I think you can find the humor in his commentary on the anti-socialism stance of John McCain, even if you disagree with his beliefs. Here’s just one sample of many
McCain has promised to continue the Republican’s War on Socialism that has been led by George W. Bush over the last 8 years. Which socialist programs will McCain continue to dismantle?
President Eisenhower’s Socialist Interstate Freeway System, which takes money from individuals and redistributes this wealth to rebuild failing bridges and other “critical” infrastructure across the nation, such as the I35W bridge in Minneapolis (above).
This dismantling of socialism will apparently not involve the federally financed ‘Roads to Nowhere’ demanded by Alaska’s convicted felon (R) Ted Stevens and his associate, McCain running mate Sarah Palin, as Alaska already has so much wealth that its citizens don’t pay taxes, but rather get over $3000 in windfall payments per capita from the state. For Republicans, socialism is only socialism when it benefits people who actually need it: people who God never intended to live productive, long, or liberated lives.
- A proposal for so-called “Smart” roads that provide traffic statistics, and recapture energy for powering surrounding areas
For roadways, horizontal strips running across the road are cut out and removed every few feet with vibration gathering piezoelectric crystals being installed. The crystals generate electricity by capturing the vibrational energy as each vehicle drives by. The more vehicles, the more power generated. Each strip is then connected to an electric line running between poles which are placed every so often along the roadway. The poles contain accumulators which collect and distribute electricity onto the grid.
- Be kind to that crazy ol’ bag-lady down the street - she might just be a millionaire recluse, living that way because it suits her
Recluses are not restricted to Bowery-type neighborhoods, either. In an elite suburb of Boston, snooty neighbors paid no attention to a 79-year-old spinster recluse who lived among them. But, when she died early last June a lot of eyebrows hit the sky. The “poor” spinster had left a million dollars. And in her will she asked that it be shared by three of her pet institutions and a handful of friends who had been kind to her.
